Basic Needs

At the HRC, we believe that meeting basic needs is the first step toward lasting change. A shower, a meal, a clean set of clothes,  these are not just services; they are acts of respect that open the door to trust and relationship-building. From this foundation, deeper work becomes possible.

Case Management & Housing Pathways

At the HRC, patrons can enroll in the Housing 101 class and then move into Open Casework sessions that employ an innovative, low-barrier model unique within Orange County. During Open Casework, any participant may meet One-on-One with a caseworker to ask questions, explore resources, or receive immediate guidance without opening a formal case file.

This structure allows individuals to access tailored support quickly, connect to community partners for specialized services, and, when appropriate, receive warm handoffs to housing, health, or benefit programs. For many, these informal consultations are a critical first step toward stabilization and trust-building, often leading to formal Case Management engagement.

Open Casework ensures that every class participant leaves with actionable next steps and that no opportunity for connection or housing progress is missed.

Classes & Community Integration

All classes and workshops are organized under the Five Foundations of Care: Educational, Emotional, Social, Spiritual, and Physical. This ensures holistic support for clients and alignment with HRC’s philosophy of whole-person care.

The HRC seeks to:

  • Schedule and promote classes with clear sign-up systems

  • Track attendance and collect feedback for program improvement

  • Work with partners and volunteers to facilitate specialized workshops

  • Ensure classes are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and inclusive

  • Redirect clients from classes to Case Management when deeper support is needed
